How we ranked these
By who each van is for and what you get for the money. What we weighed:
- Whether you can buy it finished. Every entry is a van you can buy complete, from a dealer or from a builder's standard layout.
- Value. What the price buys in battery, water, heat and a bathroom, set against the rest of this list.
- Layout. Whether the bed, kitchen and storage work for the number of people the van is sold to.
- Support. A dealer network and a manufacturer warranty count for a lot on a long trip, and production models get credit for them.
